Asian Monologues casting call
Audition for the Bainbridge performance, with possible tour continuation
This call is for the May 17 staged reading at BIMA on Bainbridge Island. Performances are read from script, some pay is available, and the team may continue with cast members for future presentations in Washington and beyond.
Roles currently casting
Role 1
Asian male, mixed-race Japanese/Caucasian, age 30-45
Seeking a male actor who can play mixed Japanese/Caucasian and carry a staged reading performance with presence and warmth.
Role 2
Asian Filipina, able to play age 5-70
Natural Filipina accent is a plus. This role spans a wide age range in a staged reading, so vocal flexibility and emotional range matter.

- Show call on May 17 from 4:00 PM to 9:30 PM
- Rehearsals and performance at BIMA on Bainbridge Island
Audition script to use
Please use the short passage below for your self-record. Read it in the voice of the role you selected. This is a staged reading, so a clear, grounded read matters more than polish.
Test monologue script
I have spent so much of my life learning how to make my story smaller for other people.
Smaller so it sounds easier to explain. Smaller so no one gets uncomfortable. Smaller so I can keep moving.
But when I tell it honestly, it is not small at all. It is family, distance, language, memory, and every room I have ever had to enter twice just to be understood.
So I am done pretending this voice should arrive quiet. I want to say it clearly now, and I want to be heard the first time.
